Vote Yes! Yes! on Propositions 1 & 2 on the October 6 Ballot
Welcome! The Fairbanks Fair Tax Association is a group of citizens working to make the City an affordable community to live in that also has a fiscally sound future.
We have been trying to come up with a way to lower City property taxes AND equitably share the costs of police, fire, and roads among everyone who benefits from these services - which is all 100,000 of us.
We believe we have come up with a plan that is reasonable, easy to implement, and very fair to everyone:
A 3% sales tax will reduce City of Fairbanks property owners' base mill levy to 0 mills!
A sales tax will not bring hardship to residents - food, fuel, and medical expenses are exempt!
A sales tax will mean that everyone pays their fair share.
We hope that you will look at the website so that you can see how this plan will put more money back into your pocket for you and your familly.

City mill Levy
$898.20
Annual City Property Tax
$29,940.00
Amount of TAXABLE purchases the household would need to make to equal current City property tax.
The initiative to enact the 3% sales
tax amends our City Code to allow for a sales tax and the
Amendment to the City Charter GUARANTEES that the proceeds of
the sales tax must first be used to reduce the city mill levy to
0 before any other use of the proceeds is allowed.
Your YES vote is needed on both!
